Don't Forget To Water
Even though it is winter and your plants are dormant, they still need to be
watered. They aren't absorbing the water like in the growing season, but it
helps to protect the roots from being damaged by freezing temperatures. If we
haven't had any rain, or snow that melts quickly, in 2 weeks, we recommend that
you water. It does not need to be much, just enough to soak the root zone.
Watering over the winter will help insure that your plants make it though alive,
and leaf out fully in the spring. Do not turn on your drip system to do
it, you will want to use a hose or a watering can. If you use the hose, drain
the water out of it so that it does not get damaged by the freezing temperatures
either. If you have any questions about winter watering needs, feel free to ask
any of the employees at Garden Shop Nursery.
