Starting September Garden Shop
Nursery seminars will be moving to 10:00am
All seminars at the
Garden Shop Nursery are held at
3636 Mayberry Drive. Seminars will begin at 10:00
am and last for an hour. Classes are taught by the Garden Shop Nursery team
or special guest speakers from the gardening community.
September 11th
Seed Saving and
Composting
Bill Mewaldt organic gardener and seed
saver will join us here at the Garden Shop Nursery.
Bill is from our region so he will have the most useful tips for seed
saving. Bill will cover all aspects of saving your seeds, most importantly
which ones can be saved and those that can not be successfully saved.
We will be announcing the speaker for
the composting portion later.
September 18th
Containers
The fall is a great time to spruce up your
summer containers that may be a bit worn from the hot summers. Marnie
Brennan will help with replanting for great fall color. She will cover how
to plant and the best culture practices keeping them healthy and blooming.
September 25th
Fruit tree
Michael
Janik will be here at the nursery to give a presentation on fruit tree care
focusing on restoring older trees and cultural practices for winter prep.
Michael is a very well know fruit tree and shrub expert. We are pleased to
have him join us for this great gardening topic.
October 2nd
Fall Bulbs
Marnie Brennan, our bulb enthusiast will
give this class that will cover bulb selection, great planting techniques,
where to plant and much more. The Garden Shop Nursery brings in the best
bulbs and most interesting varieties. Bulbs can add some much color and
texture in the spring; and we hope you can join us for just how best to use
them.
October 9th
Pruning, how and why
to prune your trees
The when, why and how of tree pruning with
Dale Carlon, certified arborist and tree consultant here in
Reno.
October 16th
The Garden Shop
Nursery’s Fall Festival
We are planning a giant pumpkin weigh off,
Kellogg’s Garden Products to help with gardening concerns, games for the
kids, pumpkin decorating, scare crow contest and more.
October 23rd
No Seminar set; we have a non-profit
event at the nursery.
October 30th
Put your garden to bed. We will have our
team of gardening professionals ready to help you get the garden, lawns,
garden tools, water systems and more. We want to make sure you have all the
information you need to ensure your plants will have a safe winter.
